Julia LaPierre Owner and Special Education Music Teacher

Julia LaPierre is a licensed Florida educator, special education music teacher, and owner of Joyful Creative Arts. She is passionate about using music and creative arts to enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities by creating engaging, individualized experiences that foster confidence, communication, learning, and joy.

With four years of professional experience as a Special Education Music Teacher at Nina Harris Exceptional Student Center and four years as a private music instructor, Julia has worked with individuals across the lifespan in both school and private settings. She has experience supporting people with a wide range of disabilities, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities, cognitive disabilities, psychological disabilities, and multiple exceptionalities. Her teaching philosophy centers on meeting every individual where they are and celebrating each person's unique strengths through the arts.

Julia earned her Bachelor of Arts in General Music with a minor in Psychology from Florida State University. She is a Licensed Florida Educator and holds certifications in MusicTIP, Mandt Training, and Seizure Disorder Training, equipping her with specialized knowledge to provide safe, inclusive, and effective instruction.

Her work has been recognized throughout Florida's special education and music community. Julia was named Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2024 and was nominated for Emerging Teacher of the Year in 2026. She has presented at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference on best practices in special education music education and has served as a Pinellas County ESE professional development presenter in both 2025 and 2026. In 2026, the ESE band under her direction was selected to perform as the featured musical ensemble at the Pinellas County ACE Principals Appreciation Breakfast.

Through Joyful Creative Arts, Julia offers individualized music lessons, music-based academic instruction, small group classes, and interactive birthday party entertainment designed specifically for children and adults with disabilities. Every service is thoughtfully adapted to each individual's abilities, interests, and goals, creating meaningful experiences where creativity, confidence, and connection can flourish.
